Three Sudanese were brutally murdered when their car was ambushed by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) on the road just few miles from Tambura on May 17, 2010. The victims were government officials in the State Ministry of Education: Mr. William Arkangelo Baabe, Mr. Gabriel Makana (49 years old) and Baraka Josefati (25 years old). Over the weekend 30 to 40 LRA attacked five miles north of the town of Tambura, close to the borders with the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The LRA group ransacked a medical center, looted food and other items, and abducted seven people. Western Equatoria state has been rocked by LRA activities since 2006.
