Blanca Delmi Ordóñez with her 3 year old son at their home in Teotepeque, La Libertad, El Salvador on June 9, 2015. Ordóñez gave birth in a latrine and she had not even known she was pregnant, although she already had a son. The baby was found dead in the latrine by firemen and authorities decided that this was murder. Ordóñez spent 11 months in prison. The case against her was finally dismissed. Abortion in El Salvador is illegal. The law formerly permitted an abortion to be performed under some limited circumstances, but, in 1998, all exceptions were removed when a new abortion law went into effect. Photo by Bénédicte Desrus
