26 april 2010 - Karthoum, Sudan - A camel is slaughtered at the NCP party's Khartoum headquarters to celebrate President Omar al-Bashir wins elections. The eating of camel is allowed in Islam, and indeed is traditional in the Islamic heartland in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula more generally. The hump in particular is considered a delicacy and eaten on special occasions, including religious festivals. Omar Al-Bashir won another term in office Monday, according to election officials, with a comfortable majority (68 percent of the vote ) in elections marred by boycotts and fraud allegations, becoming the first leader to be elected while facing an international arrest warrant for alleged crimes he orchestrated in the western region of Darfur.
