  • 26 april 2010 - Karthoum, Sudan -Flag waving NCP supporters gathered at the party's Khartoum headquarters. Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir won another term in office Monday, according to election officials, with a comfortable majority (68 percent of the vote ) in elections marred by boycotts and fraud allegations, becoming the first leader to be elected while facing an international arrest warrant for alleged crimes he orchestrated in the western region of Darfur. The referendum, guaranteed by a 2005 peace deal between north and south which ended Africa's longest civil war, is forecast to result in secession, but exactly how the two countries will begin to disentangle their economies, resources and people is far from clear.   • 9 december 2010 - Juba, South Sudan - Southern Sudanese citizens march in the streets in support of the independence referendum in Juba, South Sudan. According to South Sudanese officials, more than 2.8 million people have registered to vote in the referendum. The referendum on whether the oil-producing region should declare independence, scheduled for Jan. 9, is the climax of a 2005 peace deal that ended decades of north-south conflict - Africa's longest civil war that was fought over ethnicity, religion, ideology and oil and that killed 2 million people.   • Sunday 9 january 2011 - Juba, Sudan - People from the Dinka tribe from Bor, Jonglei State dance as Southern Sudaneses vote at the John Garang memorial mausoleum where a polling station is being set up in Juba. About four million Southern Sudanese voters began casting their ballots Sunday in a weeklong referendum on independence that is expected to split Africa's largest nation in two.   • 18 december 2010 - Juba, Southern Sudan - Members of the Mundari tribe from Central Equatoria State dance after the final of South Sudan's first commercial wrestling league between their tribe and the Dinka wrestlers from Bor, Jonglei State at Juba Stadium. The matches attracted large numbers of spectators who sang, played drums and danced in support of their favorite wrestlers.
