The Ugandan President is attending the18th birthday and coronation celebrations of Uganda's King of the Tooro Kingdom, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV in Karuzika Royal Palace at Fort Portal. King Oyo is one of the world’s youngest ruling monarchs. He ascended to throne at age three after his father, King Olimi Kaboyo, died of a heart attack in 1995. He rules over more than 2 million people in the Tooro kingdom, one of four kingdoms allowed by the government to exist in Uganda. He works in construction. He says he works in the hot sun all day long, but he has no choice because he has to pay for his food, his school fee and his rent. Simon skin is badly damaged from the sun. Darina is a muxe from Juchitán de Zaragoza, Mexico. She works as a dressmaker and lives with her boyfriend Jesús Gómez Reyes, 29. Having an older sibling who is a muxe made life easier for her. “Deep down, I feel like a woman but I recognise I am a muxe,” she says. She has been dressing as a woman for a decade. “My dad still calls me by my real name. He doesn’t make me do men’s work but he can’t bring himself to call me by a girl’s name.” Born men, but often living as women, muxe occupy a traditional role in indigenous Zapotec culture that goes beyond identifying as gay.   • Portrait of Luz Betsaida Orozco Pineda and her new born baby at their home in Juchitán de Zaragoza (Mexico).<br /> <br /> Now 14, Luz became pregnant when she was 13 after being “stolen” according to the Zapotec Indigenous tradition. Considered a traditional kind of marriage – Luz is too young to wed legally – the custom dictates that the couple go to the young man’s house and announce their plans to marry. While the family waits, the couple go to a room together; he emerges later with a blood-stained handkerchief to prove his bride’s virginity. Luz, who started going out with the father of her baby when she was 10, lives with her in-laws in the 6 de noviembre neighbourhood on the outskirts of Juchitán in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. Her baby was born on January 13, 2016. Despite following tradition, she speaks little Zapotec – the language of her husband and his family – she follows tradition, wearing a headscarf to protect her health as she is still observing the 40-days quarantine period after giving birth, during which she stays in the house. While Mexico has outlawed marriage under the age of 18, many young girls become unofficial wives and mothers much earlier. In Juchitán, teenage pregnancy is expected, even prized.   • 9 december 2009 - Coustilleres' hat factory, Septfonds, France - Jean-Claude Coustillères is one of the few manufacturers of hats that dye it's own straw by hand. Septfonds is the heart of French straw hat making, due to its very ancient hatter tradition. The hat making industry had its commercial peak in the late 19th century..Coustillères is a family owned hat making factory that has been making straw hats in Septfonds for nearly 100 years. They make hats from straw, felt, and cloth as well as caps. The current owner is Jean-Claude Coustilleres. He is one of the last hat makers of the region..The straw hat making process is very labor intensive and numerous hands are involved. Nearly all of the equipment is over 100 years old, they use the original presses and tools including aluminium molds and sewing machines and dye their own straw continuing the traditional methods of manufacturing. The hat blocking and shaping, straw braids construction and dyeing are all done by hand..The company works on behalf of fashion houses and makes a variety of regional and historical hats.   • Portrait of the The McDonogh 35 Roneagles Marching Band in New Orleans (United States).<br /> <br /> McDonogh No. 35 Senior High School was the first high school for African-American pupils in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to 1917, during the era of segregated school systems in the Southern US, no public high school existed in New Orleans for African-American pupils. Those interested in pursuing an education beyond the eighth grade had to attend one of the city's three private secondary schools for blacks. It was in that year of 1917 that a group of spirited citizens met to petition the Orleans Parish School System to convert McDonogh 13 Boys' School from a white elementary school to a secondary educational facility for black pupils. The petition was granted and in the fall of 1917, McDonogh 35 became recognized as a four-year high school.<br /> <br /> MacDonogh No. 35 is also known for its marching band, a long cultural tradition in music rich New Orleans. The High school marching band plays at football games but also for cultural events, parades, and fierce yearly competitions between high schools. <br /> <br /> Like many high schools MacDonogh was destroyed by the hurricane Katrina and its students dispersed all around the country. New Orleans' high-stepping school bands fell silent. But the school was one of the first to re-open in 2006, and the band working with donated instruments started practise soon after.
