Thousands protesters march to demand justice for the disappearance of 43 students in the state of Guerrero, in Mexico City, Mexico on October 8, 2014.
Mexico’s federal forces took over security in the city of Iguala, state of Guerrero, and began searching for 43 college students that went missing after violent confrontations during a political protest that took place on Sept. 26 and left six people dead, 25 wounded and 43 missing. The federal officers arrived after the discovery of a mass grave containing 28 unidentified bodies outside Iguala, amid suspicion that local police conspired with an area drug gang “Guerreros Unidos” to massacre dozens of students. DNA testing to confirm the identities of the remains is expected to take weeks. (Photo by Bénédicte Desrus)
